AI DISCLOSURE
SHREDNEWZ uses artificial intelligence to augment reporting, not replace it.
What we use AI for
- Summarizing source material and public documents
- Generating headline and body drafts for human review
- Extracting claims, entities, and predictions from articles
- Creating data visualizations, maps, and narrative companions
- Voice synthesis and accessibility features
What we do not use AI for
- Final editorial decisions without human review
- Attributing claims to sources without verification
- Creating fabricated quotes, documents, or evidence
- Replacing bylined reporting or original investigation
Models and providers
We may route prompts through Google Gemini, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Groq, or other providers depending on the task, cost, and availability. No provider receives personal data unless necessary for the feature you are using.
How to tell what is AI-assisted
Articles and features that are substantially AI-assisted will include a visible label or disclosure marker. Drafts, summaries, and visual companions generated with AI are always reviewed before publication. Corrections to AI-assisted content are logged in the same way as human-written content.
If you believe an AI-generated summary misrepresents a source, use the contact page to report it.
