Chris Brown Pleads Guilty to 2023 Attack With Music Producer in London

The rapper and his co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, appeared Friday in London's Southwark Crown ​Court, where they copped to a charge of affray relating to an attack on Abraham Diaw in London's Tape ​nightclub in February 2023.

In May 2025, Brown was arrested two years after he allegedly hit music producer Abe Diaw with a tequila bottle at a London nightclub.

The rapper and his co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, appeared Friday in London's Southwark Crown ​Court, where they copped to a charge of affray relating to an attack on Abraham Diaw in London's Tape ​nightclub in February 2023. He was detained at the five-star Lowry Hotel on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, for which he was later charged, according to NBC News.

Brown, who initially denied attacking Diaw, posted a £5 million bail ($6.75 million), which allowed him to go on his Breezy Bowl XX tour in Europe and North America last summer. In October 2023, Diaw filed a lawsuit against Brown, claiming the “Kiss Kiss” singer had assaulted him eight months prior.

The producer alleged Brown “inflicted severe and lasting injuries” on him after “beating him over the head” with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 in February 2023 at the Tape London nightclub.

He will sentenced on October 26 for the affray charge, which carries a maximum jail time of three years. Brown then allegedly proceeded to “ruthlessly stomp on” Diaw and kick him in the back of the neck, knocking him unconscious for 30 seconds. Last month, Brown was ordered to pay his former housekeeper $13 million after she was brutally attacked by his 200-pound dog in 2020. His most famous legal scandal happened in 2009, when he pleaded guilty to felony assault for brutally beating his then-girlfriend, Rihanna.
